what does this look like to you

You've already been told what would the best broad spectrum antibiotic for sharks - that would be Nitrofurazone.

If used correctly the risks to the shark is minimal.

It would be best to put the shark in a hospital tank for the treatment. Since the Nitro can also kill the good bacteria in your tank.

im not made of money man , it took me a year to save up $200 i really don't want this animal to die , please is there anything i can use at home to put down the swelling on the tummy :( please guys help me :'(

First off - you should never have bought the shark - unless you already had the basic saltwater fish suppplies need to keep them. Which would include - a good antibiotic & a good antifungal for basic fish meds.

That said - we are trying to help you any way that we can. But you have to be willing to do what is necessary to keep the shark healthy. And if you can't do that - then you should have never bought the shark to begin with.

As for Nitrofurazone - it's not that expensive or hard to find. If you don't have it - then you should be able to find it at your local Fish Shop and it should only cost about $10-20 for a bottle.

is there something that i can put right into the tank , or something i can use at home right now to bring down the swelling on the tummy ?

Seriously dude, if you can't afford the $10-15 to get medication, bring the shark back to the store or give it to someone who can take care of it properly. Trade it back to the store for some cheap tangs or something.

Straight up, sharks are MUCH more expensive to care for and feed than standard pets (dogs, cats, etc), and those cost at least a grand a year to care for.

For the umpteenth time, NO. You need the proper medication. It's a shark, not something you would have medication lying around for.

k im really trying here. theres nothing wrong , the belly just bloated up over night , and i called my local fish store they never heard of nitrofurazone , thats why i m asking u guys were i could find it , my local fish store is big als , but noone can help me and u guys are just becoming really rude tonight , i ll just do this myself, im so annoyed. im sorry

Sad about being a bit hard in the last post. Looking at the the Seachem meds you've listed in the other thread. I would say based on the meds you have -the PolyGuard is your best option. It at least seems to have some Nitro in it - which should help kill the bacteria.

As for the swelling - it is a result of the bacterial infection. Kill the bacteria - the swelling will come down.

As for why - your lFs may not have heard of Nitrofurazone - sometimes meds are sold under different names. So as the fish owner - you need read the ingredients of the meds to see.

OK, I have to ask. Are you a young kid? I can't really figure out what the problem is. Getting some meds for your fish shouldn't be this hard. I told you late saturday night that it was most likely bacterial and nitro was your best bet. Other than you being young and not having any cash left over from buying the shark or you don't have easy transportation to the fish store is the only reasons I can think of that you couldn't get what we told you to get. I know times are tough for a lot of people but someone that has the money for a shark should be able to swing 20 bucks for some meds for sick fish

im 17 , i have no friends this shark is the only thing i have in my life right now , i have to save up for months just to get it , and i get one thats dieing ... this is bull **** !
i looked at the big als site and this came up ,
