If you want to breed any fish for profit, it is usually not a good idea to keep any other fish with it, because other fish will eat the eggs and fry.
With cichlids (after you have found a compatible pair,) you give the pair an appropriate size tank to themselves, and after they breed usually get a number of small tank to grow the fry out in, once they've been separated from the parents. Its good to separate fry by size, because they often grow at different rates.
