I currently have a mix of Cichlids in my tank...just deciding what i want to keep.

I wanted to keep 2 of these guys long term...

Female Green Terror
Male Jack Dempsey
Male Vieja Argentea
Female Carpintis

they are eing hosued with Dollars and Convicts

If I was to keep the Argentea full term....what would be good tank mates for it? what other cichldis could i keep?

Tank is 4ftx2ftx1.5ft (bow front...2ft high)

Well 12" in a 4ftx2ftx1.5ft isnt really bad...the bow makes it neary 2ft wide anyway.

And people keep 10" GT's in 55g tanks so a 100g is to small for a fish that gets 2" bigger?

The argentea with the convicts as dithers is fine. the dollars & a medium catfish should be fine no other large cichlids or there may be death involved.

What sort of level of aggression are the Argenteas... i keep trying to research about them but everywhere says peaceful...the shop that sold it to me said they are like Severum in temperament.

Obviously from reading this site i know they are reasonable aggressive....so how bad are they really?

Atre they as bad as a GT or a JD? or worse like a RD?

They can be very aggressive, I would put them right next to a red devil... If you are going for keeping it in there for life, a 4 foot tank isn't going to leave much room for it and another to have their distance from eachother. Just because people keep certain fish in certain tanks doesn't mean it can work for you as well, or is suitable either.. If your really wanting the Arg, I would just make it a centerpiece fish with the dithers/cons..

Also, how do you know it's a male?
