No kidding? Seriously a Lenticulata pike 12" long? Lenticulata pikes are pretty nasty fish if they wanna be. 12 inches is still smaller for them. But dang.

And what rays ate these?

Forgot my 10" tig. :(

It's strange I have never had a ray ever sting anything to my knowing

The other fish that got stung must has been picking on the ray or why would they go into defence mode

The only fish I have had ever pick on my rays was a flagtail but even then they never stung it

I have a 24" + tigrinus with my rays and that's fine even with new born pups

I do see females flick the tail to the side to try to sting a male when he is trying to breed but the female is not interested

I think each type of ray has different temperament

With normal motoro being the most aggressive followed by pearl then Leo

I think feeding plays a big part to and when you feed

If you feed with lights off or just before it stops the rays hunting so much at night as that's when most fish get jumped

Hmmm, so many people with issues, but I seriously could not ask for my discus and my pair of m.m. to get along better. Like I said I had to pull a discus for pecking at my females eyes. Has anyone else other then me successfully kept discus with rays?

Depends on the ray it self. I have a very large ray that won't eat medium geo cichlids.

All of the bigger fish I lost were pinned down and chomped on not eaten . Than they Die afterwards

Ya there are quite a few keepers who keep rays and discus together!

Exactly. A sport not a food. From what it sounds like most lossed have come from black rays. I've never kept a brown ray, only kept black rays so jusr assumption here.

Good feedback. Every single occurrence has been at night, not eaten just shredded so it's like a sport or something now. Only the flagtail was missing an eye. It's just crazy because I see so many people keeping eartheaters with rays like it's not an issue for them but me = not so much...

Maybe i looked over it, but what is the tank size and hiding spots? I have never lost anything but 1 angle fish to my rays, but thats like 3 years ago.. My tank is 1200 gallons and has (not loads) but enough driftwood for the fish to cover.. When the night arrives, there should be some "in hight" spots where the other fishes can rest. Rays seems to stay on the bottom and along the walls.

My hystrix ate the royal clown knife. Granted I didn't see if it was the killer, but it did eat it. My tigerfish and my ray didn't eat or kill my same size standard clown knife that was with them.
