What fish just don't "do it" for You?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Glo-fish, parrot fish, flowerhorns, fancy goldfish that are so deformed they can't swim properly.

A couple of years ago I would have put polypterus and Rift Valley cichlids on the list but now I'm poly obsessed and have a tank dedicated to shell dwellers. So, never say never I guess!

Flowerhorns :grinno: I know a lot of people love them but they just do not appeal to me at all.

It's funny I used to dislike them and thought they were ugly. Then over time I grew to like them and their personalities. Their colors are outstanding. But some do look distorted with the oversized kok.

Its interesting this notion that parrots have trouble swimming...don't know where it comes from. All of my parrots swim faster than my oscar and Boss can cover a 6' tank in 2-3 seconds when startled...he's the roundest of the bunch!

Anything that's ultra common, oversold etc

For example : blood parrots, common cichlids, anything that's heavily sold by petsmart or petco.

I like fish that are unique, not everyone and their mom keeps

for me it would have to be any aggressive fish I have kept all kinds of freshwater fish over the years even had a giant snakehead back in the day before they were illegal to keep in the states. I like small schooling fish tetras and swordtails in a planted tank now nice to come home without dead or beat up fish also can really see the natural schooling behavior in a larger tank favorite is diamond tetras (adults)
Yea, haven't had CA/SA ciclids in about 16 years. Still like them but won't own them again. I'm tired of pulling the dead bodies or having to get another tank to separate them.
