What got you into fish keeping?

as a kid i always had a fish tank but it wasn't big and never had anything really crazy and i've also liked fishing my whole life. so eventually my friend Mike (who's also on here, shookONES) convinces me to buy a 20 gallon setup off of him about a year and a half ago and starts showing me all sorts of cool ass fish when we go to fish stores. ...and i was hooked, i had 4 tanks by the end of that first month.

A buddy of mine had turtles and guitars and I love playing guitar and tried to own as many as I can so I would trade him fish tanks I found at garage sales for his guitars, well last year I ended up in the hospital for 6 months due to an appendicitis and my internal organs we're shutting down I wasn't even allowed to pick up my guitar cause it weighed to much, 6-12 pounds was too much for my stomach, well anyways the only thing I would do all day is sit in the lounge and stare at a planted 55 gallon bow tank with some zebra danios in it, then I got switched to a rehab cause I had to learn how to walk after sitting and laying down for 4 months It was hard to walk and at 16 I developed stage 3 bed sores, so.. Every day after 1 hour of exercising my legs the therapist found out tht I loved looking at fish and for 5-10 minutes every day they brought me to this huge oval cichlid tank tht was in the center of the entrance. This is in Robert wood Johnson nj, so after my infections cleared I got out of the hospital and was still not able to do much and I still suffer today, I can't go out and play basketball or play football or go out with any of my friends due to me getting sick constantly so I'm at home and school most if the time.. So now I needed something to do and I remember the fish tanks in the hospital and then I had my old 10 gallon and I went out and got fish yes I overstocked and had no info at the time lol.. I had a bala shark, polypterus, pea cock eel, and a Pleco and a Chinese hi fin in the 10 gallon and in 2 months they went to my 45 gallon and then I really got into the monster fish keeping seriously after I saw my friends tank (BO) and thts when I went out and got eels and gars and catfish and loaches. I finally found something I could do without getting sick or hurt learning was not a problem cause I had nothing to really do all day so I loved to learn and find out new things. I've only been in this hobby for a year or 2 and I'm really living it and am learning more and more everyday!!
