The OP asked a serious question looking for answers about what to feed his fish. Some of you may not agee on his decor choices, but some of you with your attacks come off as juvenile and pretentious. The fish care less about fruity pebble colored rocks than they do clean water and proper care and housing.

To the OP I like to use NLS and Omega One, more of an emphasis towards NLS. Hikari is not bad food but I prefer the other two listed above and they are easy to find and not to pricey. That said I have used Hikari for decades with great results. Enjoy the hobby, enjoy your fish. Remeber opinions are like buttholes everbody has one.

And most of them stink, most of the time.

Ridiculing people for small things, like the color of their aquarium gravel, creates a chilling effect. People with real questions will choose not to ask or post pictures of their tank because the cool guy squad might make fun of them. It’s gross behavior.

Maybe the decor was the choice of a small child and the OP is just humoring the kids. Maybe the decor the OP showed is all they could afford, or they already had it, and maybe they don’t care for it either. Maybe the wife, or husband, made the OP use that gravel. There are so many possibilities that it just does not bear mentioning in the first place, except by people who get heir jollies from being rude.

Don’t forget, the member throwing shade about your fish “feeling right at home in nature” has a flowerhorn avatar.

And the award for petty hypocrisy goes to...that guy.

Is it ok to harp on peeps for thread necro? If so, nice almost 2 year old pull here!
Lol, maybe a fair point. But...
  1. “Almost two years” is hardly “necro” on a forum that’s been around for more than ten years. Also, 573 days is only about a year and a half.
  2. Old threads will come up, people who get bent about it do not understand how search engines work, I guess. Not saying you’re doing that, you’re cracking wise, and it was margnally funny. Other people on this site seem to get their junk in a twist about it for real.
  3. Meanwhile, new threads with real questions get ignored.
  4. For the record, there were three new posts before mine.
  5. No, I don’t think harping on people for imaginary mistakes is cool. I don’t think harping on peeps is ever cool, unless it is a response to something that is actually harmful. (Violence, negligence, abuse, assault, thievery, etc.)
  6. I am as guilty as anyone of being a jerk, at turns. The last line of my previous post was jerky and not necessary, for example. I am trying to do better, personally, so we can have more meaningful conversations.
  7. Smooch!
