What is one thoughts on this?

Sounds like a great place for algae to take up residence. idk if i would do this.

I think it would look awesome if you did it on a seperate pane of glass and then siliconed it to the back, or if the aquarium glass was super thick, like more than it needed to be. I don't know tons about etching glass, but wouldn't it make thinnner areas in some parts of the glass? Plus it might be hard to see if the tank wasn't backlit.

I have no clue on this issue-
You raise a good point their---Hopefully someone here knows the answer....

I'm not worried about seeing it really-As long as it would serve it purpose.....I'm more worried about it letting light out...It would be a solid background if I did do it----no desings-I'm not talented enough for a task like that.....LOL

i have no idea what effect this would give?

I'm not sure either....But I really dont see why it shouldn't work....But I'm going to wait for alot more responses before I attempt it.....I want to consider doing this on a bigger tank---And it would cost me a fortune if I messed this up and had to replace the tank....

I wouldn't risk comprimising the integrity of glass that is put under the kind of pressure aquariums give. unless it was custom made, with a thicker pane of glass on the back. that would be pretty cool, though. etch it, and paint in detail.
