I have 5 small African cichlids about 2-3" and I am wondering what their main diet staple should be and if so what type.

Thanks guys ,

I like the cichlid bio gold, floating type
Wheres the best place to get it ? Will my little labs be able to eat it?

I get mine from Petco but I get the sinking type.

My littlest lab (1.5") eats them just fine. He holds it in his lips till its soft enough to break up and eat.

I also feed them algae disks (Broken up) and the occasional frozen blood worms
Nice I picked up 5 assorted African cichlids one is a lab. They all just ate after being in the tank 6 hours or so. They are awesome very colorful almost salt water like. :headbang2

Thats why I love Cichlids they are about the closest you can get to saltwater but without the cost.

I have 4 Kenyi (One is a male and he is starting to turn yellow)
2 Electric Yellow labs
and one albino red top zebra.

Much more colorful than any other FW/BW fish I have seen:headbang2

I got two of those guys in your avatar they are cool. Im not sure the names of them all yet I used to collect the larger south american cichlids and some other random ones (Jack dempsey , oscars ,texas, Red devils ,midas and red snooks . These are my first African cichlids in a species tank and my first peaceful tank. They are fun to watch cant wait to have a tank full of them. I got them a nice log and a ton of lava rock stacked around like a few big caves and a bunch of plants. They are happy
