If you have mbuna like yellow labs you will want to feed them spirulina as this brings out their colouration and is good for protein and digestion. I feed NLS cichlid forumula and this has vastly improved the size and colour of my fish.
I ordered some kens already but I picked up some NLS cichlid formula from my LFS:) They like it , whiffs of garlic I remember that smell now...

African Cichlids are 75% vegetarians and 25% meat. They are famous for getting bloat if fed to much protein. Vegetable acts like a laxative for them.

I feed Omega one Veggie pellots, Hikari frozen vegtable matter, Omega one seaweed, Massivore Pellots (Grow very fast on these) Omega one sinking color pellots and cucumbers. Not all of them every day, but mix them up.

Also if you get bloat (WC Fronts are famous for it, if they are brought up to the surface to quickly) Stop all meat food and feed Vegtable food for at least a week and 9 times out of 10 will correct the problem.

Good to know. I just gave them their spirulina which they seemed to enjoy I think I am used to feeding mainly protein but the spirulina is a good diet someone said correct??

It's very good for them. Spirulina is 100% Vegtable. I use to use that, but found it made a mess in the tank. Mix it up though. Imagine you eating a salad every day for your entire life. You would get sick of it at some point. Keep them guessing on what they will get next.

Ken's Fish flakes (both the Spirulina and Veggie flake are excellent). Ocean Nutrition Formula Two is also a great staple.

Don't forget about the 2mm! LOL

BTW, for all those who may care, I would discourage feeding ny type of floating food. Floating food increases the chance of getting "Float".

Had not thought of that....

I got my diet staples down I am gonna feed the same thing every morning (frozen or flake spirulina) and some NLS or brine shrimp or blood worms or beef heart or some sinking pellets. Sound good ?:headbang2
