What is the best looking South American cichlid out there?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
To each their own but my preferences:
1. Red Tiger Monteguenses
2. Caquita Myersi
3. Boucourti
4. Atabapo II pikes
5. Discus
6. Cichla
7. Firemouth
8. Salvini
9. GreenTerror
10. Oscar

Some of my favorites - Gold Saum, Geos (I haven't seen an ugly full grown Geo that was properly taken care of), Severums and Festae.

The 'best' looking SA cichlid? It's such a subjective question.

But if you're looking for opinions, I'll say any species in the Caquetaia penus.

Festae, Ornatum, Atromaculatum, Myersi, Kraussii, Spectabilis, and Green Terrors are all gorgeous SA cichlids and good choices for a tank with a 6'x18" footprint.

Wow!! I keep telling myself that some just don't read threads... Or they have no idea which region their fav cichlid comes from!!! Rofl:) I mean come on, its ok to make a mistake and accidentally consider something like a JD as S/A but once somebody has brought the proper location into view on the thread, then it's complete ignorance to have somebody else come on and say.. Oh I like JD's and ebjds!!!!:/
Also if I am correct all of the parachromis reign in C/A...

But my vote goes out to Umbees, Festae, and spectabilis!!:)
