If she is going to fall in love with any freshwater fish it would be Discus. They come in many many colors and their colors don't fade or change as they get older like other species of chiclids sometimes do. They are known to be very intelligent and even hand fed by many owners. They are for the most part peaceful not aggressive toward other fish like other types of chidlids. Even being housed with fish as small as neon tetras. Here are just a FEW photos of discus..remember these are only a few strains...the colors and color patterns on discus are ENDLESS!!!
People are spot on with the GSP, Fig 8 puffer, Electric blue jack dempsey, Discus.. colorful gourami's and fancy plecos.
A little too much, but LEO rays also.
i wouldnt bother with africans, i dont know how much they cost where you are
but here you are talking the equivelent of 25$ for the tiniest fish. you spend so much money on them, and if you dont ahve enough they all bully eachover and end up killing eachover. if you have lots of money to spend on fish then YES go african as they are beautifuly coloured and active, but for half that price get some larger more unique fish
oh this is an easy one.
Discus are colorful
the marai lake chichlids are pretty
the ORANGE AND RED CONGO PUFFERS!! those are top notch
