I have seen a mice eaten in the wild. This is not childish. The kid in the background probably couldnt believe it ate it. If feeding a mouse is childish then so is feeding comets or any other live prey. People keep predatory fish mainly because of the agression and great feeding displays. Some of you guys are real sensitive sometimes. I guess its a show of the times.

Well said ;)

It's different if the bass actually "eats" it. How many times did that mouse get spat out?

What do You mean? Did You read all my posts? :)

In the wild-fine. They do eat them. However, this is not the wild. It's a glass box and the mouse didn't get to chose if he wanted to go in there.

I have personally seen lmb's eat lizards, snakes, baby ducks, and a small rat.
An aquatic rat?

They will eat just about any thing alive they can fit in thier mouth
This is true.

Feeding Habits - The diet of bass changes with its size. Young fish feed on microscopic animals (zooplankton) and small crustaceans such as grass shrimp and crayfish. Fingerling bass feed on insects, crayfish, and small fishes. Adult bass will eat whatever is available, including fish, crayfish, crabs, frogs, salamanders, snakes, mice, turtles and even birds.

I could not find the authors name associated with that study...Oh it's not a study..just some guy guessing that rodents like to take a dip in the water with large bass. I'm sure it happens from time to time but I have yet to see a single study that once shows a bass has actually been captured with a rodent in it's gut content.

Wow i didnt even have to fight that battle..... how do i say this.... Owned

Owned? I'll just guess that most people that feed live mice to fish that are clearly designed to feed on aquatic prey items have size issues below the belt.
I'd guess you compensate you lacking manhood by showing the world how tough you are by this sophisticated/mature activity.

I will say, I am not saying I agree with what they feed the LMB, But being out Bass fishing for 20+ years, You tend to see how they feed in the wild.

I've been bass fishing for quite a while longer than you and I've yet to see a bass eat a single warm blooded animal. I'm sure it happens but they simply are not a normal part of their diet. The only terrestrial things I've seen bass eat are insects. I'm sure a large enough bass would eat a hedgehog if given the chance since they're opportunistic feeders.

I thought you just said ...."I am not saying I agree with what they feed the LMB"

I have seen a mice eaten in the wild.
Did you throw it in the water?

This is not childish.
This behavior is extremely childish and mildly sadistic as well.

The kid in the background probably couldnt believe it ate it. If feeding a mouse is childish then so is feeding comets or any other live prey.
Like comparing apples to oranges. I'm sure if you breed super tiny monkeys they'd make great fish food.

It's not a show of the times..Many don't want this hobby to be taken over by a bunch of stupids kids that like to take sadistic videos of their bass eating small mammals for no apparent reason other than personal gratification.

I totally agree, but neither do feeder fish like minnows and goldfish.

I don't like seeing videos where people feed mice to their fish. And the dweeb in the background was another reason that I thought the video was tasteless.

That's why I don't feed them to my fish.

So I guess We should stick to feeding bass pellets and flake food because thats what they eat in the wild

Listen teleost, you were certain that there was no scientific evidence of a bass eating a mouse whereas before i could respnd with plenty of books on bass fishing that I have read and websites stating clearly that large mouth bass( being the voracious predators they are) do in fact eat mice.another member had posted a link which was for the STATE OF FLORIDAS department of fish and wildlife.
And believe or not mice swim very well and go in water more than you think. I.e. crossing rivers, reaching branches and bushes to eat.
Im sorry but its a scientific fact that they eat them, yes probably not A LOT, yes it isnt their main diet, but they eat them more than just a few times in their life span.

NOW i apologize for my childish comment, it wasnt ment to offend you.

AND i would like to clear up that my bass does not eat mice or rats I stricktly feed him pellets and krill nothing live. I would feel bad dipping a mouse in that water and i would never do it. But if someone does it for the bass and because they want to include a mammal in their diet Im fine with that. But childish feedings on tape with a retard in the back round dancing around is not what i support. that in fact is wrong.
I hope i cleared something up guys.

Where did I say "this is what you should feed your fish"?

I've said this before and I'll say it again.....Children should not take videos of sadistic behavior and post it in a forum the proper captive care of native fish.

I could care less what you feed your fish....just keep the childish behavior to yourself.
