That's what i thought. The OP is putting too much salt in his tank. What do you think the short term effects of that are?

Too much salt can make the water too concentrated with salt and will make the water alkaline. I don't know the short term affects but I would assume the out come would be bad.
To the OP u should only add salt when needed and only add the amount of the replacement amount of water from your waterchange u do.

Okay... just did a 30% water change and did not add any salt.\
Not sure what the PH is straight from my TAP I live in the city and LFS's say i should get a PH of 7. But I never tested the PH before. I'll go pick up a test kit when i get the chance.

Don't listen to what your LFS always has to say because they tell you that so u would spend more money on PH buffer chemicals. Just get your test kits (ammo,nitrite,nitrate,ph) and test your water parameters and test PH from your tap. 7 is neutral, anything lower is acidic, higher would be alkaline. If it's a bit off neutral then don't bother wasting money on PH chems.
IMO thats no where near too much. We ray keepers usually stick with the 1-3 lb of salt per 100 gallons of water depending on the severity of the problem. I've used this same exact amounts on aros and it's been perfectly fine. His problem is just his 10% water changes. I would just start doing 30-40% changes like recommended if not twice a week.
Reason for adding salt is to kill bacteria/diseases in your tank and help speed up the healing process for injured fish. Adding large amounts of salt will bring the PH up.
Depends on what kind of dechlorinator he's using. Some brands of it uses 1 cap or 1 full push of the nozzle for every 10 gallons. If it's prime and the 500ml bottle then it's 1 capful per 50 gallons. IMO adding more is better then adding to little but I do agree on why let water sit if your using dechlorinators.

The LFS said to add 1tea spoon of salt every 2 to 3 times of wc... but I talked to another LFS they say to add 1soup spoon full every wc. Seems like everyone has their own opinion. But I admit i have added a lil more than the usual probably cause of the injuries recently which is just a little less than 1 soup spoon per 10% wc.
So i just did a 25% WC and he's swimmingly happy and fine it seems... he's playing with the air bubble pad right now the usual thing he does when he's bored.
SO do you all think the markings on the head are just healing wounds? OR should I look furthur into it?
