your pic is way better than those other two IMO. however, there are a lot of youngsters on this site and ive noticed a lot of youngsters are like "woah its a P, how cool is the bloodthirsty killer".
as for the pretty and very pink/red FH, again the colours win this when it comes to the younger voters.

your pic has great focus and you did a good job getting such detail so close up but most people (usually youngsters) dont appreciate that, only the blood thirsty killer and pretty the colours.
this is however just my take on it and i could be way off.

Im a youngster myself, im 16. Guess me and Dave are the only ones that have any sense when comes too photography?

I didn't vote at all, but I wouldn't have chosen yours by a longshot. No offense but an eye shot does nothing to me. IDC if it is POTM. I will choose the best picture IMO. In my opinion your pic just looks plain. Out of those three I'd choose the third pic.

It lacks emotion. With POTM, it may not be the quality of the pic that matters (although it does help), but the content. you're photo is a great photo, just not POTM material.

Agreed, looks boring. I'm not saying it sucks...but it's an eye. That's it.

Well said. It is NOT potm material because it doesn't show teeth or a fish eating fish,, just a quiet pic with a nice eye.


For the long run, something must be changed to the competition.. like:
Only 18+ should get to vote or posters over 1000 posts or only mods should vote.

Makes sense, but it is the best photo, not the "most interesting fish" or "the prettiest colours"

i entered so many times and i only get a couple of votes..do you know why..because there are better pics... against me.. that is why you vote.. you get the option of choosing the one you like.. no one else has to like it... but when the votes are added up that many people liked that one more.. try again next month... just like i do... you get better with practice and someday the majority might vote for yours.......

It doesn't have that pizzazzz like the other pics. When people look at the pics they choose what entertains them an eye shot doesn't do it.

some pick their favorite fish.. some pick their favorite colors in the pic.. some pick something unusual, some pick for total clarity and stunningness.. some pick for the expression of the fish..gleam in the eye..big mouth.. smile etc....some just pick because they cannot decide... there are all kinds of reasons to like a picture ..ask any artist... i try my best to go for the picture itself... the camera skills... but sometimes a picture can just be magnificient in other ways... like the shot itself.. one in a million shot... everyone has their own likes and dislikes... and thats why the total vote is the one...
