some pick their favorite fish.. some pick their favorite colors in the pic.. some pick something unusual, some pick for total clarity and stunningness.. some pick for the expression of the fish..gleam in the eye..big mouth.. smile etc....some just pick because they cannot decide... there are all kinds of reasons to like a picture ..ask any artist... i try my best to go for the picture itself... the camera skills... but sometimes a picture can just be magnificient in other ways... like the shot itself.. one in a million shot... everyone has their own likes and dislikes... and thats why the total vote is the one...

i think a better question is are you guys his adversary? the poor guy was right about the two pics he posted and was just looking for your thoughts not your attacks. i would be all your agents if i agree with you. i completely agree with him and will always speak my mind. you have a right to speak up and so do i. its just a debate, dont get upset...

Who's getting upset? Honestly? Also, when did I make any adversarial remarks? I just found it odd that you were defending him like that... sorry.

I've been on the forums a lot with Jakob and we sort of know each other, not too well obviously, but we're aquainted. I am simply telling him how I feel, and I am sure he understands that I am more giving advice than attacking him. Telling someone they are acting immature when they are is not attacking.



Like I already said Jakob, you took a great picture. You will obivously take lots of others. Don't get discouraged.

Out of those 3 i pic urs hands down. I understand were u are comming from. It is POTM not Pretty fish of the month. U r supposed to vote for best photo not favorite fish. but i understand were other posters in this thread are comming from.

but understanding that it is a photo contest not a favorite fish contest, urs out of those 3(just those three, i never looked at the others) is the best hands down

Sorry, I was distracted when I wrote this. I ment to say that most people would prob vote in a similar fashion, as in most people will not only vote for quality, but what they like.

I think it was very rude of him to post up other people pics and start claiming his was better. As we can see, the masses dont agree with that. Sorry to be the one to point that out. I am sorry to be a jerk about it, but to post that two of you are the only ones with photography sense is a bit jerkish as well. God knows I have entered potm in the past and lost, but at least I didnt go and complain about it to my peers who also entered some pretty damn good pictures. At least be a man about it, say congrats to those who deserve it and vow to try again next month. No point to cry about it.

The point in posting the other pics and saying that mine was better was just an example.
I think you and packer keep forgetting that i did not say i should have won, and far from it, just that i should have done atleast a little better.

Thanks Stump, in my defence i wasnt acting immature, just was asking.. Aint i right that my pic really is better than those two? Then why didnt i get any votes? And these questions have both been answered so i am happy.

your pic is way better than those other two IMO. however, there are a lot of youngsters on this site and ive noticed a lot of youngsters are like "woah its a P, how cool is the bloodthirsty killer".
as for the pretty and very pink/red FH, again the colours win this when it comes to the younger voters.

your pic has great focus and you did a good job getting such detail so close up but most people (usually youngsters) dont appreciate that, only the blood thirsty killer and pretty the colours.
this is however just my take on it and i could be way off.
