Why would you ask everyone to vote and post opinions, and then tell some that's giving their honest opinion - that they sound like they're 'trolling' ? IMO you invited ANY and ALL opinions, Yes? ? ?

your not supposed to even get the pregnant ones but everyone keeps pregnant salmon for the eggs and then cure them for bait..

that's messed up. there is no law down here in florida that we can't keep pregnant fish (to my knowledge at least). But you can usually tell when the largemouth and peacocks are pregnant and if you are a considerate person and would like to see the next generation of largemouth and peacocks make it into the wild then you'd let them go but I have had friends (who are no longer my friends for the very reason you are about to read) who are literally brain dead and keep the fish just for bragging rights...they won't even eat them they would trade it to some guy at a tackle shop that would give them hooks, leaders, sinkers, etc. I tend not to keep freshwater fish. Saltwater fish I will keep and it's only a small enough quantity that would make two or three meals for two people

salmon are different there good eatting and there eggs are good bait but no one i know cares for a bass for meat or food source..there only a game fish..salmon what are previously stated

100% of the fish die if you keep it (except for tank purposes) so what harm is a 10% release mortality on fish. If its not good eating size dont eat it, unless its air bladder has popped into its mouth or its seriously injured. i usually eat maybe 25% of the fish i catch that is good eating size, usually i like to let them go. just my two cents.

by the way ice fishers.. throwing a pike or any other predator on the ice and leaving it there does absolutely no good, it is a waste of fish. i've found so many burbot and pike just thrown on the ice because its a "Garbage fish"

Luv smoked salmon, yummm..., (but in most parts of WI that I live near, you can only get the HUGE ones by spearing, which only certain Indian tribes are allowed to do.) Caught one in our Smelting nets a while back, had to quickly push the net down to save it from ripping. Almost that time of year again. :D Coming up soon! *Beer Battered deep fried smelt, somethin' cold to drink, Some deep fried beer battered cheese curds, hot peppers, cucumbers, anything else in the fridge we can deep fry!:headbang2 OOoohhh, think I got off-topic there! Guess I'm really hungry! So sorry...= off to get my popcorn...

Is it just me or is rainbow trout not up there -_-.....i usually catch and release but dor trout i keep as many as my family can eat in one night. We usually have a big gathering if i catch enough. Like mentioned b4 i dont understand why people catch to freeze them when frozen fish pretty much tastes the same. One example i heard a guy would catch a bunch of lightnings to freeze for a whole year. Im thinking those trout wudnt taste to great after a while. Lol

I can't comment on trout, but I have frozen walleye before and it really doesn't deteriorate in terms of taste as much as you might think. I actually find it difficult to tell whether walleye has been frozen or not. That's not the case for all fish I'm sure.

I did find some 2 year old perch in my freezer a while ago. I wouldn't touch it, but my catfish and turtles devoured it.:)

People who are in denial about their own wrongdoing are not open to opposing points of view. And if they are presented with facts that they cant accept, they'll just deny them and carry on. Just read how many people on this thread are claiming this bogus 98% survival rate for released fish. The truth doesnt interest them, they just want to feel right about the harm they do.

its not bogus its true that they do survive if you have water pass the gills which then helps keep circulation through the body but you dont just throw them back if it was a big fight with the fish you hold it there till its ready to go. but yea anyways if you just get the fish in fast you can throw it back..
