mines a pfs substrate but I don't syphon anyhow so that won't matter for me.I will do a small manual water change once every couple months to get the debris off the sand....most of it gets picked up from the powerheads, catfish and rays but theres always some there .....i like to get it before it piles up
But if your tank is bare i wouldnt see why u would have to do this

I count that as work hours haha because you can't forget youre filling a tank...like I do at least once every couple months lol. Still that's a crazy amount of time hahaWell, I don't actively have to participate when the big tanks are refilling, so that number is kind of inflated when looking at actual "work hours."
