So I think I have found a pretty good place - upped the drip to 300gpw -a little more than 100%. Nitrates have dropped from 40 to 20. Ph is 6.3. Water is softer. I change filters on Saturdays but water fill is constant drip rate. Cut the lighting back to help reduce algae too. Challenge is only that the tank is much more peaceful when the light is on! In the dark I have an18" dat, an 18" pike and a 2' bass that tear the place up!
