great pictures everyone but Chad these are awesome!

Thanks...and from what I see here nikon seems to be becoming a force to be reckoned with when it comes to cameras. I know I love mine and it takes good pictures and it was under $200. The other (more expensive) nikons look like they are really giving cannon and fugi a run for thier money!

Well, I suck at taking pictures and my above pics were taken with "auto" mode and a regular lens (I don't have a macro lens yet). So, if you know what you're doing I'm sure you could take much better pics than those.
The D50 is a good, versatile DSLR with very good bang for the buck. You could also check out the new D40 which just came out. From what I've read it's a great camera and even cheaper than the D50.
Someone who knows more about them should be along shortly to fill you in.....

Thanks, I forgot what the exact settings were but the delhezi pic was taken with no flash and with only the eclipse hood lights as lighting source. While the apisto shot was taken with flash. And both were in macro mode.

There's a big difference between the D40 and D50 and that is on the D40 it doesn't have a built in motor for auto focusing the lens. You'll have to buy a lens with motor built in to it. This limits your lens choices unless manufacturers come out with new lenses. D40 seems to perform even better at high ISOs than the D50 though and it's also smaller and lighter than the D50. I'm waiting to see if they'll come out with a D60 cause I think D50 needs an upgrade.
