What kind of Flowerhorn do I have?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Sorry I don't mean to nit-pick but what do you mean by it having a trait characteristic of a FH? It is a FH, so I'm a lil confused on what ya mean by that.

I also told the seller that this female is FH, indicating the color of the eyes, the shape of the lips and tail. It's still kamfa. Below in the pictures are her parents and brothers.

Magnus_Bane Magnus_Bane fader zz is a gold base. GB doesn't always have to be two tone.
As far as I know a Red Dragon isn't the same as a Golden Base. The female I posted was born from 2 Red Dragons that I had several years back, the mother just happened to have the fader gene and didn't start showing it until she was roughly 6-7in. These 2 were her parents btw.

6D7D6155-3994-4E87-8146-55B40E826757.jpegHere’s an update on my GB FL I originally posted. I purchased a female for him yesterday, excited to slowly introduce them.
They will be going in a new 125gal home.
Does anyone know if a 5-6 inch feather fin squeaker catfish would be an okay tank mate for the two of them? Cat is peaceful and stays hidden 90% of the time. Just don’t know if they’re compatible.

Worth a try as long as you have a backup. Flowerhorns tend to not like new additions but cats are one of the few that have a chance.

Thank you! I feel better knowing there is a chance. Obviously I’ll keep an eye on them, just wanted to make sure he wouldn’t go ham on the cat lol

Magnus_Bane Magnus_Bane could probably offer better insight than me.
