What kind of pbass did I purchase?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Hey, thanks for the feedback! FYI, both pics show the same pbass.

Can't really be an Ocellaris, because they have no black markings on the cheek. Mine does. Can't really be a temensis, because the body is too short and I have juv tems in my comm tank. They look different, in terms of colouration and speckles.

Ahhhh, the wonderful world of cichla! So captivating......yet so illusive. Some information about individual species of Cichla

A short vid of my pbass, etc

did you buy all those cichla at the same time? also be careful man in the video the largest one looks like it could fit your little guy in his mouth.. dont under estimate cichla... you will wake up one day and be missing one

I got them at different times. Thanks for the good advice! The big tem is not aggressive towards the rest, but he does nudge them now and then. But I am planning on getting rid of it...or putting him in my other tank with the monsters (arowana, florida gar, and IT)

Boost.. I really don't believe that is an orino. It looks somewhat like my hybrid looking creature. At first I thought monoc/orino or ocellaris/orino.. But now I think either monoc/tem or ocellaris/tem. The amount of black on their cheeks strongy suggests tem. Corn's fish looks to be maybe 5"-6"? An orino at that size would be spangled, or at least light in color. Mine is about 14" now.

Ahh... I didn't see this page... My opinion is they are both definitely hybrids.. yours appears to be more tem monoc and mine tem ocellaris... But I guess there wouldn't really be a way to know for sure.

Hey, thanks for the pics! Thats a really nice pbass. What did you buy it as?

My worst fear is that my fish is tem/monoc hybrid. But its such a nice looking little fella!

Why is that your worst fear??? The original buyer bought it as a temensis..

Hey Warren... You got the ocellaris from where?? Asian Tropical you mean??
