What kind of pbass did I purchase?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
yea now that i look at it .. thats deff some time of hybrid.. sweet pick up... and r1 ridah.. that fish is most likely wild caught and not a farm raised mono.. probably a hybrid as well thats why urs has red eyes. great looking fish!! how big ?

R1's looks like a monoc to me. Just with red eyes... which I believe still happens in monocs sometimes. I think mine and corn's DEFINITELY have some tem, but obviously aren't pure tems. I like mine because he's different. He has a nice irridescent sheen to his flanks.

Thanks. yes, the mono was wild caught.

Here's my Occellaris...

I believe mine has some ocellaris because the rear bar is a lot darker at the top. Like the oci there on that ocellaris. Another reason I it must have tem is due to it's growth rate. It outgrew my orino like 2 to 1 almost. There are tems that have an oci like that also though.. Dieselmack had a picture of one.

I say Monos. Here's my Mono with red eyes..

However, as DANH noted, only time will truly tell. I believe they are still too small to truly identify.

Definitely not monoc. Mine has markings behind the eyes. It resembles a temensis more.

Oh yeah, mine has irridescent sheen too. I emailed Jeff Rapps with the same pics I posted in this thread, and he confirmed its a farm bred temensis from Taiwan. I think thats pretty conclusive!

am i correct to say orinocensis/ monoculus/orinocensis have red eyes?
also pertaining the comparisons to orino and ocella, have they got identical rosettes (the 3 spots) on the body?
body appearence wise, orino is better than ocella too?

No.. orino and ocellaris don't have identical rosettes at all. Yes all can have red eyes.. And IMO orino has a better appearance, but I wouldn't say everyone would think that, nor is it with every fish for me.

Corn, your fish was probably bred on a farm in Asia, but Asia does produce full temensis looking tems... Yours was bred as a tem, but there's no way it's full tem. I personally wouldn't say that rapp's Id's are conclusive.... At least like you stated it, it seems like you're saying because he said it, it's conclusive..

I have two full "temensis looking" tems from Taiwan. One still has its speckles all over and the other one is losing its specks as it gets bigger.

Mine was bred and sold as a tem I am sure.....but probably has some genes from ocellaris or monoc. I tend to think ocellaris. Its also greener than other tems of the same size. Jeff Rapps breeds them for a living, so his advise/opinion counts, as far as I am concerned. And for me, its good enough.
