What kind of pbass did I purchase?

Oh ok... R1.

I don't think that Jeff breeds pbass?? I also tend not to believe EVERYTHING word for word out of him.. I don't believe his "true Venezulan temensis" were wild caught.. True Venezuelan made people think they were from Venezuela, but I believe he called them that just for that reason, and they were actually 'just' true temensis. Not that there's anything wrong with true temensis, but I don't believe they were wild caught in Venezuela, which the name suggests.

Also I am sure tems with only tem blood come out of Asia, but ours that we pictured aren't full blooded tems I don't think. His answer of Taiwan farm bred tems would be a very generelized term, which probably meant I don't really want to put any thought into it because there's really no way to know what the heck is in it other than some obvious tem. And also that this is what Asia sells as "tems" often. So if you want to be very general about it, you can call them Asian Farm Bred Tems.

Danh, I see what you mean. Thank you for explaining it to me in detail with regards to Jeff Rapps. Yeah, in generalised term, temensis would be most appropriate. But for us, we want more detail. Hence, our discussion on my pbass's parentage.

Thanks to all who have contributed to the discussion. I think most of us would say its a hybrid. Tem+something else. Maybe monoc, maybe ocellaris, maybe even orino. But whatever it is, its a sweet looking fish, a definite keeper. It'll probably turn out to be like Danh's gorgeous hybrid. And I can't wait!
