What makes AC110's so great ? How much clearance is neccesary?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Mine is noisy and the output ramp thing (where the waterfall flows down) doesn't extend down far enough. Because the tank I use it on has a corner overflow, the waterfall falls too far and makes more noise. I fixed that with a sheet of filter floss now, and the sump is louder than the AC110 so it doesn't bother me. Nicer filter I think, but from my limited experience with it I think its over rated.

Well its hooked up on my tank now. quiet ! and the design is much better than other HOB's in certain aspects. I like it so far Ill let you know what I think in 24 hours if I have any floaters. It moves a TON of water :) My jack dempsey is hiding from the waterflow lol i guess they dont like fast moving water. Too bad for him I guess with a 300 GPH HOB
An AC110 a eheim 2215 and an undergravel plus my bubble wall thats powered by a whisper 10-30 (Lots of bubbles)
is quite a bit of filtration and movement :) I like it so far

week to two weeks when the fish all finish up there expensive ass hikari food :)

I have a ac70 on my 55, looking to add another one soon... its great IMO. quiet and easy to maintain. I just got mechanical and bio. 4 inches of clearance in the back and same goes for the 110 (its just wider). however, never expirienced a 110, so i dont know about the noise difference, and im pretty sure the 110 uses double the wattage as the 70 or anything lower.

500gph for 14watts. Seems pretty economical to me.
My Otto 2000L/hr (~570gal/hr) powerhead sucks up about 32watts...

holy shi*!you got all that running on a 55 gallon?

i know im new here but i have had aaquaclear 110 on my 55 Gallon for 5 yrs and it is still running strong

this is all the filtration i have, Granted i do 20% water changes weekly and have Silver dollars, clown loaches, and a Gourami

my water parameters just about always look good with it

it can be noisy if something is seated wrong

and i found out if u don't have the strainer on the inlet it will suck up fish if they are small

Depending on how many you have of each, you don't sound over stocked. To get more bio you could add more ceramic rings if you need too in the future.
