What makes Japenese style tanks possible?

I love how this topic can never be discussed in peace... much like any hybrid or painted fish topic. "OMG, that's not right!!" Noone is asking if it's right, they're asking for objective informaiton about the filtration.

It's like me asking how to drive a car, and someone saying "cars are bad! they pollute!!"

From what I understand....those types of systems rely on an almost constant water change. The reason it's done in the first place is lack of room so the filter can't be three times the size of the tank or you've defeated your purpase.

A modifyed (call it hyperactive) constant drip system is the only practicle way to accomplish this. There's simply no need for a massive filtration system if your constantly turning over the water.
