I understand I love Centrarchids, but everytime I stop at the Bass pro here in SpfLD Mo. its the Bowfin that steals the show!

I live in NJ so I would have catfish. I caught this small one in a stream I was fishing for pan fish and I saw it like 7 inches long so I jumped into the water and waves my lure around him until he bit. so I would have a couple of those and some pumpkin seeds. im gonna go and find another one ive seen two so far ill try and catch it so I can post a pic of it but itll be hard cause some guy and his daughters build a damn in the stream with some rocks and that screwed up the stream its got mud on the bottom and its way to shallow grrrrr stupid guy.

<html>Pretty much all native fish in Arizona are protected, even though there are some pretty awesome fish (bowfin, trout, a really cool sucker fish). This is due to such a limited water supply and overpopulation. I think it would be really amazing to have a native tank, especially dedicated for conservation. Too bad its completely illegal to fish in my local river, but that's okay, I own riverfront property so I'll just wade in and catch them I guess I'll just have to live.:(

No one is interested in Darters?

Although Darters are not monsters by any stretch of the imagination, i always have a few perching around in a tank or two. These little jewels, remind me of a hummingbird, They tend to stay on the bottom and just kind of jump around from place to place, Most species dont have a swim bladder so its harder for them to take part in any mid-water activities, However they are so active at the bottom, and very interesting to watch, they are worthwhile fish to keep, and they are some of the most colorful Natives available.
