We have a small female sal that is currently trying desperately to partner up with our nasty male trimac at the moment.. They are building forts all around our 6ft but so far the trimac seems unwilling to take the next step...
 
i dont see why your confused..

apparently one of the fish you thought to be female is actully a male
 
I can tell Sal is female, dont know about the Jag. Also, it isnt uncommon for 2 females to pair up, one lay eggs and the other assume the male role. The eggs wont hatch though. But some say the Jag is male, so you gotta go with that.

Do you mean SalxJag won't hatch?

I was told on here the Jag was female and it just seems way too many eggs to come from the Sal, that's where the confusion is coming from...

No confusion. You have a male jag and female salvini that have spawned. All those eggs had to have come out of the salvini. I've never seen a male jag lay eggs.:ROFL:
