I bought my a gar as a gift for my father-inlaw. He wanted one and i foolishly didn't research them before my purchase. Now i have him because he outgrew the 55 my father had him in. Between the two of us we have quite a bit invested in the fish, i want to get him a better home but i dont want to take a total loss. He's in a 155 for the time being and he is 20 in long and very healthy. How much is he worth? What should i do? help...

If you think the gar deserves a better and bigger home why not sell it?

Or better yet buy a monster tank!!!

No. He's in fact a normal Alligator Gar (Atractosteus spatula).

Gars can vary incredibly in their coloration and patterning.

Thanks everyone. I bought him as a true aligator gar for 50 bucks last febuary. Since then my father in-law and I have easily spent 10x that amount on food for him. I'm not looking to get back everything I have invested in this guy, but i don't want to donate him and get nothing either.
