what should i do?

Thanks everyone. I bought him as a true aligator gar for 50 bucks last febuary. Since then my father in-law and I have easily spent 10x that amount on food for him. I'm not looking to get back everything I have invested in this guy, but i don't want to donate him and get nothing either.
 
Yeah, the most I'd pay for a gar that size would be $70. If you feel bad for the fish then why not donate it?
 
I would do what's best for the fish. If you could find a good home for him and take a little loss that would seem to be the right thing to do.
 
Ok. Thanks again. lol...I didn't know how to figure current value...that's why i asked. Now, any ideas on a place to donate him? I really don't want to pay to ship him. I live in upstate NY. Is there anyone near me? Bass Pro Shop? A zoo? Conservation...?
 
NYC Brooklyn aquarium does not have a gar yet ^^
 
Bring it down to the NYC Aquarium. I think they need one since they don't have one.
 
Very nice gar, and oscar. If that gar is 20" that oscar is huge...good luck finding a home for that gator.
