Bsixxx, I think you might be right, I may just have to give him away if that's what it takes to get him into a good home. It seems that nobody around here has a tank large enough to house him. I feel so stupid for buying him.

I say you just give him to a responsible owner and not expect any monetary exchange for it. But if that person wants to pay you, then I guess it wouldn't be bad at all to accept. Just don't price it... Good Luck.
Ok. now the problem is giving him away. nobody around here her has a tank large enough or they just don't want him.
Update! I am no longer an a gar owner. 
He has a better home with a way more capable owner. The fish that i was kepping him with are now free to swim as they wish without fear of being devoured. I believe this is a happy ending for everyone.
