  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Thanks for all of the responses. SOkO do you have a number for that place? The oscar is about half the size of the gar, thanks. I'm calling Bass Pro Shop in Auburn NY...I'll update later.

Ship it to me.. I'll take him.. how big by the way?

Gars can vary incredibly in their coloration and patterning.

yeah i know. i just thought it looked like the melanistic one pictured in solomon and richards site

He's 20". I don't want to pay anymore for him so me paying for shipping is not an option. Sry. I got ahold of the Bass Pro Shop and even though they have a 22,000 gl tank the a gar is not on their list of approved fishes...go figure. lol. The person I spoke with does however have a friend with a tank that is fifteen feet long with a Fla gar in it, among other things, so I'm waiting on a call to tell me if he's interested or not.

that gator would eat his florida gar. it may be a 15 foot tank but how big front to back. probably not 4 feet, which would be an absolute bare minimum for a gator gar for a few years anyway. just a tip but i think youve already gotten this point. unlike other fish monster fish depreciate with size because of how many unknowledgeable people like yourself (not meant to insult) buy monsters to put in 55's and idiot lfs's dont bother to mention that the fish can get larger than the tank is long, then have to try to find someone with a tank big enough to keep them.

if i was in upstate ny i would trade you my florida gar for it. but im not so that sucks.

Thanks P_P. Yes I was very foolish in buying this fish. In fact the lfs guy told me he would only grow to about 30" max. But as a lesson learned, one should never buy a fish they know absolutely nothing about. It's too bad some lfs don't even care enough about what they sell to even get their facts striaght. The tanks of everything, that grows over a foot and a half or needs to be kept by itself, should have the label "!WARNING THIS FISH WILL BE A MONSTER!" Or maybe we, as buyers, should stop being so darn impulsive....
