You'll have the most badarse Petco in the U.S. of A if you stock Festae, Trimaculatus, Motaguense and Grammodes (in that order if you can't do all of them). There were a few others on that stocklist that I like but lets start with those. Any one of them could be a single fish in a 75 gallon. Your customers could even do a pair if they're willing to keep a divider handy to put in when necessary. You guys should order a few 135 gallon tanks. Don't you think they would sell? I don't know how hardcore fish people your customers are but if they buy any of these fish and grow them into adulthood, they will prolly go hardcore MFK'er. You really get addicted to this hobby when you love your fish.

Oh I see. Like Phoebe Buffay from Friends....but Phoebe-Q. I'm retarded sometimes. I thought it was pronounced like FO-BECK at first.

Thanks for the info :) I will look into those. Only thing is, most of the people I get in my store don't just want a single fish lol. They are all about overstocking the crap out of their tanks :irked:.

Maybe they just don't know any better yet lol. If they buy one of these fish, they could mix it in their community tank for a little while. By the time it gets bigger and starts killing their other fish, they'll end up liking it too much to get rid of it. Then, they'll have to buy another tank to keep the other fish they want. I started with one tank, now I have 6.

And as far as the 135g ones go, I don't think we have room to display them anywhere lol. We are a fairly small store.

It's all good. Just an idea.

Cool, it's always nice to have more fish gals around MFK.

Um...wouldn't that get a little large for a 75g tank? lol I actually considered that...but I don't want to end up with it not being sold and then having a monster fish with nowhere to put him :)
there's always room!stick him in the big feeder tanks ya got, then just tell the manager to but something else or you will personally have to take him home for free.

You're right, I didn't even look at that list. I wish they sold to individual hobbyists.

I second the EBJD.. I would love to see them keep coming on market and drive price down I just lost mine. it was a juvi.. got it for $30... want another..

I checked my availablity list everytime for the EBJDs. I REALLY want to order those guys, but they are never available. We ended up not having much extra money for me to order extras, so I ordered Pink Convicts ( I know it's been done, but we don't have any and I think they will sell well), Mixed Peacocks, and Blue Rams. I had checked my list for all of the ones that Balton listed and none were actually available :( Hopefully my sales are better this week so I have some extra money to make a bigger order next week. I don't think the chocolates, the dovi, or the red heads are available, but I will check for them the next time I order. Thanks guys for all the advice. I appreciate the help :D

i am not sure you've been getting the best advice from everyone. rather than stock what some MFK dream tank should have you should go for 3 criteria: what sells, what is responsible to sell for tank size, and what is interesting and makes your stock stand out.

IF your primary customers are stocking a 30g community then go with apisto (they have a nice list!), rams, botia, tetras, corys, paradise fish, rainbow fish, killies, etc. stock a colorful variety that covers you at multiple price points.

IF your customers are looking for the 75g "wet pet" then some of the previous suggestions make sense.

segrest has almost anything you could possibly want. so come up with a theme or two (30 gal community, 75 gal community, 75gal brackish....) and fill in the blanks so you have all your price levels covered.

Most of the people that I get, that want something besides Guppies, have 29g to 55g tanks. I will look into some of those that you listed. We have one type of Rainbow fish that I personally haven't sold ANY of. People just don't like them. Corys...we have bad luck with them. The only ones that actually live to be sold are the emeralds and the albinos. The Julies and the Spotted ones always die soon after we recieve them. Those Apisto are nice... I am going to see if those are available for next weeks. We get clown loaches when they are available, but they don't seem to do very well...any ideas on why? The always seem to die... Anyway, thanks for your input :) Keep the suggestions coming! lol :D
