What should I order? :)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
either way they get massively ridiculous for sale at a petco where an extra large tank is a 75.

sorry, wasn't trying to hate on your advice -- i know both of you know your stuff!

i'm surprised more people haven't jumped in. everyone is so quick to rag on petsmart for what they stock.

This is way off topic, I will try to get a list that sells well at my lfs. In all the petcos I've been in, the only turtle they sell is red ear sliders. Is there a reason why?

Thx

We actually haven't gotten in any red ears...we have painted turtles ATM. They don't get as big. I think they carry those types because they are inexpensive. We also have some Russian Tortoises but they are 100 bucks...

Most of the people that I get, that want something besides Guppies, have 29g to 55g tanks. I will look into some of those that you listed. We have one type of Rainbow fish that I personally haven't sold ANY of. People just don't like them. Corys...we have bad luck with them. The only ones that actually live to be sold are the emeralds and the albinos. The Julies and the Spotted ones always die soon after we recieve them. Those Apisto are nice... I am going to see if those are available for next weeks. We get clown loaches when they are available, but they don't seem to do very well...any ideas on why? The always seem to die... Anyway, thanks for your input :) Keep the suggestions coming! lol :D

you may want to look into to way you are acclimating the fish, if they just dump them in there yeah they will go into shock. i've heard the drip method isn't that great also, along w/ floating the bag. http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5350

i don't know if this is the best way, i've never had fish shipped to AK done leopard geckos they made it fine.

i'm glad to see that a true enthusiast is running a petco dept not a retard. but yeah you can't stock Monster fish like Aros in petco, you'd be a dick to sell one of those to a guy who has a 55g. but i know that would never happen, good luck now all i have to do i fake some bussiness documents and ima order me some fish from sergentfishfarm hahaha

i talked to my lfs earlier and he said they use to deal with them and told me it would be fine if i could get my buddies together and place a order through him. so ill call tomorrow to see if they will deal with me and if not ill order through my lfs.

Wow...That was really informative :) We always float our fish...it's Petco policy...I know we sell the Amquel and NovAqua, but we don't keep it for store use. We have craploads of Aquasafe...if that isn't good enough I will see about ordering some of the Amquel and NovAqua...I will buy it if I have to. We don't normally have issues with Acclimation, but some just don't do well. I am going to print this out tomorrow and show my GM and see what she says. Thanks so much!

We actually have ID Sharks in stock... They have been ordering them since the store opened and I didn't think anything of it...was reading through a fish book one day and they were under the "hard to keep" section. That is where I read that they get 3 feet long lol. Needless to say, we don't order them anymore :)

:clap:clap Bravo! Bravo! :clap:clap

Will you come and run my local Petco?
