i am not sure you've been getting the best advice from everyone. rather than stock what some MFK dream tank should have you should go for 3 criteria: what sells, what is responsible to sell for tank size, and what is interesting and makes your stock stand out.

IF your primary customers are stocking a 30g community then go with apisto (they have a nice list!), rams, botia, tetras, corys, paradise fish, rainbow fish, killies, etc. stock a colorful variety that covers you at multiple price points.

IF your customers are looking for the 75g "wet pet" then some of the previous suggestions make sense.

segrest has almost anything you could possibly want. so come up with a theme or two (30 gal community, 75 gal community, 75gal brackish....) and fill in the blanks so you have all your price levels covered.

^^
That's good advice as well, but I thought they already carry that stuff now and she wants something a little different from the norm.

PhoebeQ, if your customers can handle Texas cichlids, JDs, Blood Parrots, Green Terrors and Oscars as you mentioned, they can just as well take on a Motaguense, Festae (female) or Grammodes....none of them will top 12". Do you guys sell Midas or Red Devils? If so, a Trimac shouldn't be a prob. Of course you need the smaller fish like apisto's and Rams for your small tank customers plus medium size for the 55g tank customers but you asked for cool and different. Sorry none of them were available.

Link works fine for me, sorry fishguts :( Both of you guys gave great suggestions. They are both appreciated. I am always looking for new and different stuff to order...of any size :) Thanks to both of you!

she got excellant advise, she was ushered toward fish that only get 12" approx. full grown. which in a 75, is a very acceptable size. hell most petco's and pet smarts carry pacu and id sharks. so 12" fish are excellant sized, and IMO a festae will sell a million times over faster than a pacu or an id shark. just look at the diff. in appearance.

and as a footnote balton didnt even recommend she get dovii, so yes she was getting very accurate and intelligent information, and it is commendable for her to have come on here asking for the assistance. hopefully next order some fish come available.

im going to call them tommorrow and see if i can order some stuff from them. they have a ton of cool fish in there catalog.

We actually have ID Sharks in stock... They have been ordering them since the store opened and I didn't think anything of it...was reading through a fish book one day and they were under the "hard to keep" section. That is where I read that they get 3 feet long lol. Needless to say, we don't order them anymore :)

id sharks get more like 6 feet, 3 feet aint $h!t
