What size was your 1st tank?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
My first I shared with my dad. It was a 72 gallon bow. It's what started my whole craze for fish really. We had discus, neon tetras, corydoras, guppies, tiger barbs, and 2 clown loaches that never died. They grew massive! Sadly we gave the whole thing away

A 1.5 gallon earth glob tank with a bubbler. I had it when I was 10. Didn't know any the about fish keeping either. Once every month give it a complete scrub down and no dechlorinator. Alway wondered why my fish didn't live long. lol. I didn't get back to fish keeping and doing it right until I was an adult.

The water section of a bullfrog tank. It was starting to look boring since the frog was nocturnal so I got a submersible filter and threw in an air stone. Then tossed in a dozen zebra danios a white and orange comet goldfish and a little tiny navy blue beta that I saved up for a month to buy. I was 5 at the time and was so proud to buy something all on my own. I didnt buy anything else- Just the betta. The frog ate the goldfish, I had the betta and the danios for over 5 years in that little section of water. I figure it was around 4 gallons since it was the bottom 6 or so inches of a 10 gallon bullfrog tank that had a rock pile that surrounded a Rubbermaid tub of dirt in the back corner for the frog to sleep in. The whole time I only lost the goldfish, a few danios to the bullfrog that where easily replaced and the betta survived through it all. I still have the little filter and air pump and the pump is currently running my 2.5 gallon show guppy tank's air driven filter and the air stones in that tank and the garter snakes water section.

My very first tank was a 10 gallon. Then I got a job at the LFS and bought a 100 gallon tank.

Ten gallon, complete with incandescent light and one of those bubbling filters with the cotton and carbon inside.
^This^ for fish at 12yrs.
but at 7, tiny green turtle in a bowl- ended bad.
then started pulling my red wagon around catching salamanders, loaded mud in wagon & hauled them home to watch in there all day. took each one back where I caught them before dark. LOL. summer fun.
