what to do with illegal fish

I hardly doubt the Florida F&W are like "The Men in Black" hiding in the bushes with surveillance and aircraft knowing that you will be arriving soon with a bucket of trash tilapia to release them into the local drainage ditch. Just be smart about it. Just do like others said earlier and get a bucket, catch your fish, and take em' to the area where you got them. Case closed. Use a cooler. Have a picnic.

I have been collecting for quite a while..and I will say you never know what you gonna catch each trip out.:D

As far as the moral high ground reference introduced species and polluting the wild, wild, untarnished ecosystem in that ditch in Florida... I say BS. It is not your fault they were introduced, but a combination of many factors, too many to list. Regardless of the "this and thats" they are there and thriving.

As far as the surveillance and aircraft is concerned however...when you are releasing your tilapia back to the pristine ecology of the ditch...make sure that kid tossing pebbles with grandma across the ditch is really a kid. He could be an undercover F&W agent preparing to pounce on you:naughty:.

just keep quiet and let it be, chances are it wont even hit 10lbs. If you decide against keeping it, the clove oil was a good suggestions. please do not release it back into the wild, and please do not kill it by anyother method. clove oil is an anestethic and supposedly just lets the fish slip away PAINLESSLY. If I was in a neighboring state I'd be happy to take it off your hands. It may make nice tankmates with my oreochromis

Wait till like 2-3 in the morning have the fish in the bucket. Drive by the spot run down real quick drop it off in the ditch and get the heck out of there. All this can be done while wearing your pajamas and nobody will ever see you!

Yup
+1 on that.

Do the florida F&W people randomly just walk into peoples houses looking for illegal fish or something??? If you keep them in a tank in your house whos going to go "oh my god those are illegal im calling F&W on you"?????

ummmmm.....yeah, dont tell anyone except everyone on here......good thinking... :D

if those fish are at your house, the law said it's illegal to transport them so why not just keep them there...as long as you don't introduce them back into the wild you should be fine...

lol louie, but they get really big is why i cant keep all of them. :)

guess cus this was dug up i will update.lol
my p bass are getting bigger.
they can fit the small t's in there mouths now.
