I hardly doubt the Florida F&W are like "The Men in Black" hiding in the bushes with surveillance and aircraft knowing that you will be arriving soon with a bucket of trash tilapia to release them into the local drainage ditch. Just be smart about it. Just do like others said earlier and get a bucket, catch your fish, and take em' to the area where you got them. Case closed. Use a cooler. Have a picnic.
I have been collecting for quite a while..and I will say you never know what you gonna catch each trip out.
As far as the moral high ground reference introduced species and polluting the wild, wild, untarnished ecosystem in that ditch in Florida... I say BS. It is not your fault they were introduced, but a combination of many factors, too many to list. Regardless of the "this and thats" they are there and thriving.
As far as the surveillance and aircraft is concerned however...when you are releasing your tilapia back to the pristine ecology of the ditch...make sure that kid tossing pebbles with grandma across the ditch is really a kid. He could be an undercover F&W agent preparing to pounce on you
