what to feed large oscars

Tom - your fish eats the 4.5 mm Jumo fish formula, same as what I feed my big boys. :) (there is no 5mm pellet)

Also - to the OP.

As you can see by my previous post, it's not about finding the LARGEST pellet so that you can feed fewer pellets to your fish. IMO & IME the 4.5mm floating pellets will be a better option vs feeding the larger 7.5mm pellets to oscars in the 8-10" range.

Lol I guess I couldn't write fast before you posted lol... So ya think the 4.5mm will be better then the 7.5mm ?? Even for when they get 12"+ the 4.5mm and 7.5mm is the same price that's about the same size I'm feeding now and the 8-10" doesn't make any mess but the smaler oscar and other's only have a little bit of mess out there gills when eating ...

Human fingers, Mine loves em! Oh, wait...I feed mine Beef heart, Brine shrimp (both packaged, but spendy since he eats like 3-4 and is still hungry) but i recently bought a 10 lb bag of Safeway Select whole shrimp, it was 5 dollar Fridays, and the shrimp, while not 5 dollars, was half off the pound price. I give him three and he's full. And for the most part mix and match, then when i do anything outside with the hose, and worms come up, i get a stick and give it to him, he loves em. And you can actually google it, or maybe i saw it in here - but you can get all sorts of cheap ingredients and blender it all and put them in gel (like gelatin but no color / flavor) and do it like the pro's! Good luck.

So like just reg frozen shrimp from grocery store ? Like if I have a shrimp ring out I can toss a piece or two in for them ?

Yeah, i thaw them in a cup with slighty warm water and let em sit for couple minutes then toss em in, i don't use rings he grabs em right up, but with more than 1 fish rings are probably good. yes it was frozen to. ;p mine has eaten other stuff to, like hotdogs, banana (once) a moth 2 inches long, blueberries...lol he eats it all.

Ya I mean if we have a shrimp ring out to eat ourselves I'll save a couple for the fish lol

I've tried grapes but they took awhile to eat it, and pea's well that was a no go lol... Mine seems to be picky little turd

This.. I live surrounded by water, bait/tackle/ stores everywhere (and boats lmao) but just go in there and say you need some beef heart and stuff.. after awhile they get to know you.. its not uncommon for me to get a call "Hey Adam.. got about 5 pounds of meat you need it? last few days until its not any good for me (less fresh.. and more stock of fresher)
