What to put in a 29g?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
A few rams or other dwarf cichlids would do well in a 29. I also like the idea of it as a planted tank with a school of small fish such as tetras or brightly colored neons.
A planted tank would look nice. Username. Username. I'd do this, plants and tetras. :D

Nice! I would buy some fry or smaller fish and grow them out and put thme into your 220 gallon tank. I need to buy a 29 gallon for tons of my smaller 1" flowerhorn fry. 40 gallon breeder I don't have a stand for lol
I like his idea, just use it for grow-outs, or stock it with pairs or a harem of smaller aggressive cichlids and breed them.

I got the same deal here, an empty 29 and a few others, and I can't figure out what to put in them even after weeks of thought. I'm leaning towards a Pair of SA/CA cichlids or a species tank with Mbuna, 1M, 3-5 F....small like Yellow labs or Johanni maybe

Love a breeding pair of Blue Acaras too, or EBJDs

A planted could be cool. Since you like bettas a heavily planted paradise fish tank would be cool. Kept one in a planted a while back... beautiful fish

Bettas aren't my top pick, but there up there. What about a salvini?

No i meant paradise fish.

Sal i guess could work but i probably would think it may be a bit small long term. Never kept sals though.

Yea me neither. I've pretty much cut my list down to planted, sal, or try out sw

What about a planted exodon tank...love those fish dont know if the 29 is big enough but if others chime and approve...i would def do that

Male Salvinis get 7" max from what I gather and females get 6". I had one earlier before Christmas, but it didn't make it. My EB Acara killed it and an Oscar. IMO, I think they are a stunningly beautiful fish with all the colors you could want, yet they stay pretty small. I mean they say 7", but they also say male convicts get 6", I don't see many that big. I go 5 gallons-per-inch for cichlids UNDER 10-12", but anything over 10-12" needs 10g/inch, IMO

Ok thanks for the input. I just gotta find one now
