What WAS I thinking?

My dad did that setting up a new pond. He went "cheap" and bought liner from the hardware store used in bathrooms. Killed all the goldfish he put in there from our other pond. Yes we are sure the liner killed them. It had some kind of nasty chemical added to it probably to inhibit mold and stuff. After the goldfish died, my dad still wasn't convinced it was'nt fish safe and the liner may be okay. So I took out everything and floated one of those breeding traps with a few guppies. Within a couple hours all guppies were dead...Don't get frustrated just learn from your mistakes. I hope at least some of your fish survive. Good luck.
 
Umm.. The panic is over. The fish are tank heavenly fine! :) But now we are stuck. Can we soak the liner in water for a week? Will that clean it?
 
Nope. Just go out and buy some real pond liner or you'll be thinking "what WAS I thinking?" again...
 
Can't. My LFS don't stock it. So if I soaked it for a week would it not work? That is why we had to get it from the Hardware store :(
 
I wouldn't re use the liner and hope for the best...you'll just lose more money in fish...also when you set up new ponds you should wait weeks before adding any fish to get the water cycled and some beneficial bacteria growing
