my first fish and monster fish is a black skirt tetra......and yes, i said monster fish! he's about 6-7 years old and only 1 inch. but it kills EVERYTHING!!! I literally came home from work one day to see that it jumped the tank and was laying on the carpet. It was dry as a bone and i ran it through some tap water only to see it come back to LIFE!!!!! This fish is in a single specimen tank as it will kill everything even arowanas as it has killed two already....on its list of kills include:
2 silver arowanas
10 gold fish
3 plecos
1 dragon goby
1 tire track eel
1 bgk
1 abk
2 black skirts
9 zebras
1 peacock eel
3 baby whales
bunch of guppies
bunch of neons
several betas
parrot fish
gee golly, i can keep going lol

its name is black death by the way and he lives in a heavily planted tank in the dark as he is not to be seen by the public

only fish that has survived him was a pacu and an oscar

a baby whale would fry a black skirt, they can produce elctricity if they need to.
i don't think it's even possible for a small tetra to kill a plec. of any size.

my first fish?
about 35 years ago i spent i don't know, alot for a kid, trying to throw dimes on a plate at the county fair here in california.
I won a red swordtail female, that was in a little glass bowl with blue dyed water.
got her home and the next morning she had like a million babies!
well maybe it was 20, but it was alot of fry, and i was hooked after that.

I moved around alot when i was a kid, so sometimes i'd have to give up the fish, and i could not keep big fish, plus we were poor on welfare and all that.
so i kept a big glass mayo jar, like a gallon you get from costco.
If i had money, i'd get some feeder guppies.
If i did not have money, i'd go to the water way and get some mosquito fish/gambusia.

We used to catch green swordtails in the local creek and keep them in plastic icecream containers in our bedrooms. Invariably they used to jump out and you would wake up to find dried up fish on the floor. My first real tank was a christmas present, a 2 footer with a couple of goldfish.. I would have been about 10 when I scored that one.

I think my friend got his first 'real' tank like a few months back. I think he had like 1ft cube tanks with an oscar at one point, convicts, barbs and stuff.:screwy:

2 tiger muskie....lol i wan'ted to start big. Go big or go home.
