My first herptile was a Boreal Chorus Frog that I raised since I stumbled across a clutch of eggs... only one survived. I had him when I was around 6 or 7.

My first snake was a Bull Snake (Pituophis catenifer sayi) that my grandfather gave me when I was around 10 or so. It was the meanest SOB ever, but it was all bark and no bite.

My first herp that wasn't a catch and release that I cared for the entirety of it's life was a leopard gecko. I was 9 or 10 when I got him.

Two surinam toads.......got them as a gift a loooooong time ago......don't remember whatever happened to them though........

My first was a chinese corn snake that died a month later, I bought a ball python and havent been the same since, ive owned dozens of reptiles since then. I currently own a nice female boa and a bullsnake. the bullsnake hisses and rattles her tail when eating or has just eaten but other than that shes a baby.

Corn snake which I still have 6 years later. Got her for my 10th birthday. The second is a 5 year old corn I got for my 11th birthday lol, still have her too :D

My first herps were a Green Anole and a Firebelly Toad in a 30 gallon terrarium. I was 7 when I got them and that was all it took. I've been hooked ever since.:D

My first was an iguana. The parents said that was the closest thing to a snake that I would ever have in their house. The next year, my sister's friend incidentally released the iguana outside and soo after, I got a ball python. That was 1993 and I still have the ball python today.
