My first was an iguana. The parents said that was the closest thing to a snake that I would ever have in their house. The next year, my sister's friend incidentally released the iguana outside and soo after, I got a ball python. That was 1993 and I still have the ball python today.
My mom said the same thing about my gecko. Years later I kept about 40 different snakes and even got her a little creamsicle cornsnake that she still has today. Now I just have to convince the wife... lol

My first herp was a male Eastern Box Turtle that my dad found when I was 7. He was hit by a car but we nursed him back to health. I had him for 6 years but one day he escaped from his pen. About a month later my neighbor found him. He had been hit by a car and died. It was very sad but in the long run he really helped to get me started with a hobby that I love......and thats REPTILES! Sorry fish guys.

My "first" herp was a Ceratophrys cranwelli (Cranwell's Horned Frog/Pac Man Frog). I never seem to see this type anywhere nowadays, just the ornates. Being a small child in Florida, I was always catching all sorts of reptiles and amphibians and bringing them home. Luckily, my mom loves animals as much or more than I do!

My first reptile was an red earded slider i still have him he around 15-17 years old now

Green anole. Then a year later an eastern painted turtle. This started when I was 7 I guess...

Easterns are still my favorite painted ssp.
