i was putting a 13 speed tranny in an old r model dump truck. then our parts guy came and told us what had happened. we all took the next hour (paid) off to see what happened

i had just woken up my brother then said "Well it finally happend...." i saw the news and still could not believe it; i recall thinking it was a TV show or something......

I was asleep and having a happy adolescent teenage boy dream when my dad started shouting that we were being attacked. Then I jumped out of bed and looked at what was on the tv. Everything was so surreal, it was like it wasn't happening even though I knew that it was. I mean, who in their right mind would attack the USA?:nilly:

I was living in Los Angeles, driving to pick up a friend to go surfing. I turned on Howard Stern, and heard him going off about how he wanted to "turn the entire middle east into a glass parking lot". I was shocked, because Stern doesn't talk much about politics, and especially not like that. he was going on for about 5 minutes before I heard what actually happened. needless to say, our surf day was postponed. we went to a pizza place and had some slices while watching the news. saw the towers fall. watched the news all day. finally went surfing that night. my friend's girlfriend decided that if LA was gonna be hit, we might as well be out in the water, enjoying life.

damn, writing about that stirred up emotion about 9/11 I haven't felt since that day...

was working and watched it Live..Never ever forget that feeling I FELT, SO HELPLESS!!! Was so happy when missiles started hitting there targets in Afghanistan .............GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!

you're talking about that same night?

I remember early evening, on 9/11 (pacific time, very early morning in Kabul), that the Northern Alliance launched an offensive on the Taliban in Kabul. I knew, and still know (although I can't verify) that US Army Special Forces were involved with that attack. Literally less than 12 hours after the first plane hit, the Taliban was attacked by their enemies in their capitol city.

nobody else I've ever talked to remembers seeing that news on the TV. understandible, though. it was a day of sensory overload.

I live in brooklyn and so i was closer than most others here. My Aunt/Uncle both worked right near it. They saw/felt/heard it happen. Luckily they both escaped unscathed, but the places they worked were trashed. They're still there. They were right across the street. Their buildings are all boarded up and covered in soot.
