If i had the money i would but u try affording a house with 60 grand i student loan debt.
I do. But it's my wifes student loans. We also have 2 kids. And I still manage to keep my fish tanks where I want too. Plus pay the mortgage,cars,insurance,electricity,water,food....

How did it do $5,000 in damage? was there a slow leak you did not know about and caused lots of water damage??

Set it up in the basment. take over a part of the basement for your tank. get a cheap USED couch and rug make a little area where you can hang out and enjoy your fish.

Found a spot where the silicone wa wore off and it drained the tank out. I wasnt home. My dad doesnt blame me the tank should have been resealed itd about 25 years old

priorities...pay off the debt, pay off the wedding, (that aint gonna be cheap by a long shot), get a fish tank later, plenty of time for fish the rest of your life.....

Well im lucky enough to have the wedding paid for by future inlaws. The school loans will take a while to pay off and the tanks wont matter either way...

At least he'll let you have a tank period. And it could be worse, you could have a tank outside in a shed............

Buy 1 of these little things and show it to your dad. This is a water alarm that is dessigned to sit on the ground around water heaters to detect leaks. When the bottom of the detector get wet, an alarm sounds. They are available at Lowe's and cost about $13 and I have one under each of my tanks. Make sure he understands what the tank means to you and see how that goes!

I really wouldnt complain its his house. Just go with the basement tank, at least your still getting a tank.
