Yeah dude if i was you i would have my **** together. If that happened my dad would kick my ass out of the house period. I would be paying the damages and he would be golfing with the insurance check money so he didn't rip my face off. A fish tank wouldn't even cross my mind if i was in your position.
 
O you guys are all funny. first why would i sell everything and save up for a 125 gallon tank when i already own one. Second i'm paying my loans off lil by lil each month. The tank breaking wasn't my fault and my dad realizes that. I gave you a few options but once again on this site ppl go overboard and have to be asses. I live at home right now so i can save enough money so i wont have to live paycheck to paycheck after i get married and move out. It's easy to talk trash cuz it didnt happen to you. I felt bad that it happened because i didnt want damage done to my dads home. I lost over $450 worth of fish and equipment from this crap. I just got tanks up and running again with 2 20 gallon tanks in my room. I'm trying to figure out how to i can keep my fish and have my dad feel ok nothing like this will happen again. If you got ideas on how i can keep the tank in my room and arrange something so if it does leak no damage can be done exce[t to the tank and fish which i dont think will happen again....

I gathered that you wanted a 125g in the future. If you already have it then save up money for a pimp filtration system. Like a FX5 and a couple of AC110's.
Or buy a brand new tank with garantees so tyou have peace of mind that the seals are good for decades.

because you're about to cross over into matrimony, which is a big step and you're more worried about fish. also, you damaged your father's home and you're worried about how to manipulate him to allow you to set up your tanks. and, you got debt and you're worried about your fish. you need to MAN up.
 
If you have room in the basement, go for it,
but i get what your saying about not having room,
but its probly best to settle in the basement,
thats what I'd do.
 
If you are really worried about another flood, put them in the basement. That way if somehthing does leak,it will be on concrete. If I had ever done that much damage to my parents house, I would have taken the tanks down until I got my own place, or put them in the unfinished basement.
 
Ok you want man up I'll give it to you. My mother passed away about a year ago and I have a lil sister with a heart defect who needs looking after and my father works nights on 12 hour shifts. I stay home with her and look out for her. I put off moving away for a job to watch after my lil sister and took another job here in NY. Marriage is no biggy if your with someone u love. I'm not manipulating my father if he says no tanks in the room no matter what then they would be gone. He told me we would talk abouta it and we will see what happens. Don't come out here and guess on someones life. Its real easy to type something when your not face to face with someone phillydog
