I agree with rallysman here, but it is the first year of the stang, so hopefully that will make it 'special' and help sell it.
I wanted the same as you, something that looked cool, i bought an older camaro on ebay which fell through due to the sellers dishonesty after I drove 3 hours to go get it. Now I'm glad just to have a car, trust me it won't bother you what it is soon after you realize it no longer means your parents have to drive you everywhere. With two grand I hate to say it, but your best bet would be to go with a foreign older car on that, look at something like an mr2 if you still want sporty, although the 3 grand range really opens up your options other than just "something that runs".
Good thing your in FL as older cars stay in better shape there, unlike the rust belt where I am located.
Also keep in mind that gas and insurance (esp. for sport cars, rwd, 2 dr, etc) runs up the bill much quicker, although you may be eligible for discounts w/good grades.
