I am because I mind my own business and keep to myself. I don't cause problems unless they are brought upon me. I don't care what you do. It is your life, your business. Your property is your business. What you want to keep or do keep is your business. If anything you keep comes into my property, like chickens or anything like that it is taken care of.

If you have lowered the property value of my lot because of what you are doing, you're darn right it's my business. I'd start nice though, not calling the city right out of the gates. If you're being stubborn and costing me money, I'd definitely end up calling you in on a violation.

I'd just make sure I didn't have any first.

I don't do anything to bring down property values. This improvement project is not going to bring down the value. I don't see how improving the yard is going to cost you money unless your selling your house. You are not loosing money. You would have to sell your house for less as a direct result of that persons yard to loose money.

I disagree. Your property and your life is your own business. You don't have to worry about what others do or want.

I was refering to this. So if you had a neighbor lowering your property values by say $20-30K by what they were doing in their own yard, you wouldn't have an issue with it because it's their life and their business?

Not really. I won't be selling my house, also my neighbor would be far away also.

Irrelevant. If you were selling the house and did have neighbors 20 feet away, I'd wager you'd care then. Most normal people would.

Hey, it's cool if you live that far away from people. I'd prefer it that way myself. Not everyone is that lucky though.

My house is going on a 40 acre lot min. I don't want anyone close to me.

If I lived that close I still wouldn't care. I just don't care what others do. I feel everyone is givin the right to do what they will with their lives. As long is it within there property.

You are either more tolerant or more apathetic than most people. I certainly wouldn't put up with someone costing me that amount of money and I'm a fairly laid back dude. I agree with not really caring what someone else does, up to the point where it starts interfering with my life, family, or finances.

I would report the others, not for revenge but if I'm expected to follow laws/codes then everyone else should have to also.

I would report them too... If I have to pay for something - esp. one that I had planned on fixing in the first place I would have no problem calling in on everyone else - If I am out of violation and its issue- then its an issue that everyone else is out of violation too.

If you got multiple violations then chances are it was one of your neighbors that can see the chickens in your yard (assuming they were in the back). People are stupid enough to ask and then report something it happens a lot where my mom lives. Chances are if she asked it bugged her and she probably was the one that reported it. If you don't know for sure then just report everyone - you have a right to and if they are in violation then they should have to come up to code just like everyone else.

Granted I have no issues doing this if I pay - you do too. I am not fond of one of my neighbors - but once I started taking photos of the issues I was having it suddenly stopped and no more problems - I guess they didn't like that I was planning to report them and get them in-trouble (they must have seen me from a window or something - not sure). They are not the approachable type of people, imo, I would not go knock on their door and "talk" to them, esp. considering the issue was a clear no no on my personal property caused by them - I don't need to "tell you" that - I will gladly just report you.

you know after thinking about this situation i would say someone is upset with your front yard having NO landscape.. i bet a couple of chickens would have gone unnoticed.. but the front yard is an eye sore to all the neighbors.. so yes it could have been any one of them that used the chickens as an excuse to get back at you..
