What's a good guard dog?

Im filling out an application for a young puppy today. She is a Rott-lab mix. I found her on petfinder. I hope we have a chance to meet her today.
Another thing I found yesterday, is what looks pry marks on my FRONT door!! SMH...
Another thing I have to take into consideration is my fence, its only about 5 feet tall, is it safe to say a bigger dog won't try to jump a fence, how do you teach a dog NOT to jump over??

I think I met my new dog yesterday!!
My gf and I spent a couple hours with a young female pitt mix. We loved her, and we got feedback from the volunteers she liked me also
We have to find out about a possible breed restriction with property management, assuming that goes to well, hopefully we bring her home soon.

The other dog I'm the PIC is her other rescue dog Lola she's old now but still feisty as ever , she came in a bad way used as a bait dog for fighting so most other dogs she's not great with she needs lots of re assurance before she settles so its a pretty big deal that she's mothering this new one "Harlem " she was already called that I wonder if there's a dog running around Harlem called Manchester ? Lol

My uncle has a Belgium Malawa, great guard dog, very obedient and loyal. Follows him around everywhere haha
